Make a healthy change in 2017
A new campaign that highlights the surprising amount of sugar, saturated fat and salt found in everyday food and drink has been launched to encourage parents to ‘Be Food Smart’ and take control of their children’s diet.
The exciting new campaign will help families make healthier choices with a free smartphone app which visualises how much total sugar, salt and saturated fat is inside everyday food and drinks. The new app is also packed full of great hints, tips, fun food detective activities and mini missions to get the whole family involved.
Without realising it, we are all eating too much sugar, saturated fat and salt. Over time this can lead to harmful changes on the inside and increases the risk of serious diseases in the future. Childhood obesity is a growing issue with figures showing that in West Sussex over a fifth of children in reception (22.1%) and over a third of children in year 6 (34.2%) were classified as either overweight or obese in 2015/16.
The Be Food Smart app is available from the iTunes store or Google Play. Visit the Change4Life website for more information.
