Pre diabetes programme

Preventing Type 2 Diabetes

It is estimated that around 7 million people in the UK have pre-diabetes and thus have a high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

Our pre-diabetes programme has been developed to help prevent the onset of Type 2 diabetes by reducing the risks and allowing people to take control for themselves. The course helps participants set small manageable goals to help avoid developing Type 2 diabetes. Diet, physical activity and other lifestyle factors are the main focuses.

People who have a higher risk of developing Type 2 diabetes:

  • Family history of Type 2 diabetes
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) of over 25
  • People aged over 25 from South Asian and African Caribbean backgrounds
  • People aged over 40 from Caucasian backgrounds

If you fit into these categories and have had a high blood sugar level result, our prevention programme could provide you with the advice you need to prevent diabetes.
