Growing New Roots is a 7-week, therapeutic nature-based group for adults with a mental health condition. The group is fully funded, based at Wilding Waterhall (Brighton) and delivered by experienced and trained facilitators.

This project is run in partnership with the National Trust and similar groups have been running in and around Brighton for over a decade. The funding now allows the delivery of groups for people across West Sussex.

The group includes a range of outdoor activities designed to improve mental wellbeing, such as guided walks, mindfulness, history, wildlife and plant recognition, traditional crafts and conservation. It is for adults living in coastal towns from the Worthing-Shoreham-Southwick-Portslade area who would most benefit from time in nature e.g. those who are experiencing depression, anxiety, stress or another mental health diagnosis. It is not individual therapy, applicants will be part of a group of up to 12 people.

Free minibus provided from Shoreham Station.

The taster session is: Friday 23rd May 2025 11.00am – 2.00pm.

After attending the taster, applicants can then apply to join our 7-week group which runs from Friday 6th June – Friday 18th July 2025.
