National Obesity Awareness Week runs from 14th to 20th January 2019 and, as we know, obesity is one of the biggest public health threats to the UK.
Obesity is directly associated with serious health problems including heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, stroke and some cancers. There are also mental health problems that are associated with being overweight or obese so now is the time to start thinking about how we can change our lifestyles. Join in a national New Years Resolution to improve your health, whether it's cooking more healthily, avoiding snacks, or being more physically active!
If cooking healthy meals is a bit of stumbling block for you, Health Champions run various cookery classes for adults, parents and children, and single older adults that focus on food and food preparation skills, working in small groups to develop basic cookery skills and confidence in the kitchen.
These courses run over 5- 6 weeks and the course leaders always try to make just what people want to cook. The courses currently run in Arun, Adur and Worthing and course dates can be found on their website. Whilst here, download healthy portion-controlled recipes to lose weight the healthy way!
Register your interest now for our 12 week Weight Escape course, incorporating some light exercise, to make lifestyle changes for good with ongoing help and support (subject to eligibility). Pay £15 up front for the whole 12 weeks and come along each week to be weighed, learn something new and bond with other people in the same situation.
