Do you live in Adur or Worthing? Come and find out what is happening in your community right now!
UKHarvest are the 'superheroes for surplus food'! They collect quality, surplus food from a variety of retailers/producers (e.g. supermarkets, hotels, farmers, and restaurants) and deliver it, direct and free of charge, to charities that can make use of it to support those in need, preventing it from going to landfill.
UKHarvest is being commissioned by Adur & Worthing Councils to deliver community-based events, launching their cookery skills service offering 6 week NourishEd programmes locally from early January 2020. These courses will help people understand the food they are eating and how to have a well-balanced diet. Participants will learn how to prepare simple, healthy meals and have fun at the same time - completing a Level 1 Food Hygiene Certificate as part of the course too! More information on the courses can be found on the UKHarvest website as well as our events pages here.
They hosted two community pop-up restaurants at The Lovett Hub (Maybridge Square, Worthing) providing FREE delicious and nutritious 3-course dinners and lunches to residents of Adur and Worthing during December 2019 and are planning many great events in the future, including more local community pop-ups and food fayres.
All are welcome to participate in the scheme!
