Worthing Rethink Mental Health Carers Group

The national charity Rethink Mental Illness has launched a new support group for friends and families of people affected by mental health problems in the Worthing area.

Friends and family carers often get forgotten when a loved one is diagnosed with a mental health problem. The sufferer gets support from GPs, psychiatrists, community psychiatric nurses, etc but friends and family are often left to struggle on their own, not knowing what is happening with the health services unable to tell you anything due to confidentiality. Yet, it is these carers who support and know the sufferer better than anyone.

The group provides support and a listening ear, allowing carers a space to breathe and to feel that they are not being ignored. The group also aims to educate and support carers through guest speakers from a wide range of interests.

For more information on when the group meets have a look at the Rethink Mental Illness website or call 07763 082094.
