Dementia Awareness Week

Dementia Action Week is a campaign to help raise awareness. Each year, the Alzheimer’s Society works with individuals and organisations across the UK to encourage people to ‘act on dementia’. This year’s campaign is focusing on diagnosis.

Raising awareness of the disease, getting a diagnosis and treatment for symptoms and support for people with dementia and their family and friends is vital. In 2020, it was estimated that 16,650 people have dementia in West Sussex and by 2030, this figure is estimated to rise to 22,450 people. At Carers Support West Sussex they support many thousands of carers of people living with dementia or memory issues.

There are lots of local dementia awareness week events open to the public, have a look at the Carers Support West Sussex website for all the listings.
