CYCALL adapted cycling
CYCALL aims to provide adapted cycling equipment for adults and children with a disability or health issue which prevents them from using a standard bike. Initially, it will operate on the beautiful Worthing Promenade. CYCALL will also offer 'buddy riders' for anyone who would like to go on a bike ride but is socially isolated due to age or illness such as Dementia.
It is run by a group of volunteers and all of the bikes used will be tandem to allow for a truly inclusive experience. As the organisation grows and develops, they aim to become mobile and take the specially adapted bicycles to care homes, day centres, specialist schools and hospices in the Worthing area.
The benefits of adapted cycling include:
- improved physical fitness and strength
- helps older people to stay active in life for longer
- improved mental well-being
- gives a sense of freedom
- improved confidence and skills
- reduced social isolation
CYCALL will be running free adapted cycling sessions at Brooklands Park on Saturday afternoons, starting on July 27th from 1pm - 4pm.
